Usage:

Hydrofluoric acid plays an important role in purifying aluminium and uranium for its ability to dissolve oxides. It can be used to etch glass, carve a design, mark scale and text; be applied to remove the oxide from the surface of silicon in semiconductor industry; be used in the “pickling” process of removing oxygen containing impurity from the surface of stainless steel. Hydrofluoric acid is also used to synthetize various fluorine containing organics, such as Teflon(polytetrafluoroethylene)and refrigerant Freon.

Emergency Measures:

Skin Contact: Discard contaminated clothing and flush with flowing water for at least 15 min, and get medical aid

Eye Contact:Promptly hold eyelids open with fingers and completely flush with plenty of flowing water or physiological saline for at least 15 min, get medical aid.

Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Get medical aid.

Ingestion: Gargle with water, give milk or water. Get medical aid.
